State
State is the single largest tournament of the season and every wrestlers strives in their individual section to take first or second to make it to state. A wrestlers competitive schedule is as tough as a coach wants to make it. There are hundreds of tournaments in state and out of state that people travel to around the country to compete and prove their skill. Records in wrestling are very important and can decide between wrestling the best competitor in your bracket or facing someone who has never won a match. All throughout the year wins and losses are recorded by the sate high school wrestling league and with these a ranking system is designed. When it comes down to it all those wins and losses either make or break you in the state tournament. To make it to state winning and losing as a team does not mean as much but truly being strong as an individual and winning your own personal matches will get you to the biggest tournament of the year, state!
This year and every other year it is hosted at the Excel Energy Center where eight matts are laid out for competition. Watching is a blast and seeing upsets is a joy to see, the times are listed at:
